Consultant and professor on the topics of Reliability Centered Maintenance, Spare Part Inventory Management, Asset Management and Shutdown & Turnaround, for representative companies and institutions in their respective fields, like Empresa de Energía de Bogotá EEB, Refinería de Cartagena REFICAR, Universidad Industrial de Santander UIS, Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar and the Colombian Engineers Association, ACIEM.

EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

More than thirty years of industry experience, of which the last seven have been as an independent consultant with his own firm ORTIZ RUIZ CONSULTORES. During this time some of the projects have been on implementing and developing projects of RCM, RCA and Risk

Reliability-based Spare Pars −known by its Spanish abbreviation as RARC− for the EEB and support to REFICAR for the design and structuring of the maintenance plan for the new refinery, based on the asset management model and the definition of spare part inventory level according to the RARC methodology.

Professor at Universidad Industrial de Santander since 2008 for the Specialization on Maintenance Management with the course Reliability Centered Maintenance, and at Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar for the Specialization on Maintenance Management with the courses: RCM, Maintenance Information Systems and Spare Part Management. Instructor on the Maintenance Management Certified Course from ACIEM on the areas of Spare Part Inventory, Shutdown & Turnaround and RCM. Participant and guest lecturer at ACIEM’s International Conference of Maintenance and Costa Rican Association of Maintenance Engineering −ACIMA−.

Worked at ECOPETROL during 23 years, ten dedicated to the Cartagena Refinery, nine under the Transport vice-presidency (Pipelines) and four on Supply Administration, on diverse positions related to the topic: Corporate Leader of Inventory Optimization, Catalogue and Warehouse in Ecopetrol; Coordinator of Inventory and Warehouse in Refinería de Cartagena; Implementing leader of benchmarking of Solomon and Shell for refineries in maintenance.

Graduated as a Mechanical Engineer (1986) from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, UIS, with a Specialization on Maintenance Management (2002) on the same university.

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional −CMRP− from the SMRP (Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals) and certified by the International Trade Center UNCTAD/WTO on Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. Participant on the programs for Managerial Skills with Universidad EAFIT; Certified course on Financial Management with Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga, UNAB; certified course on Cost and Budget Management with Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá.
